Our History

BlueFlower is the proud successor to the Democratic Women's Political Action Committee (PAC), which raised money for pro-choice, Democratic women candidates in Colorado for a number of years. As campaign finance law changed in Colorado, the amount of money PACs could donate to candidates was lowered by a significant amount.

Late in 2004, some of the leaders of the Democratic Women's PAC and representatives of EMILY's List, the nationally-known PAC, approached some women who became members of BlueFlower's board. The request was simple: let's revitalize efforts to support women candidates in Colorado.

BlueFlower was born as a result of hundreds of conversations within the progressive women's community. We were careful to ensure our efforts did not duplicate or compete with those of other highly successful groups in Colorado, including NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado, Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, and Emerge Colorado.

We are deeply grateful for the ongoing support that former PAC members -- several of whom serve as Advisors -- and EMILY's List continue to provide to BlueFlower.
